Overview
This series will focus on the education systems of Kenya, Ethiopia, and Zimbabwe at school and HE level.
The first session will cover Kenya and will include the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) including the grading system, UK ENIC comparability judgements, and key HE qualifications.
The second webinar will provide a focus on Ethiopia. There will be a focus on the award title changes at school level Grades 10 and Grades 12 and a review of historic qualifications, with a particular focus on the evolution and changes associated with the Grade 12 award across an extended time period. Typical HE qualifications and documentation will also be covered.
Zimbabwe will be covered in the third webinar. The focus will be on the Zimbabwe General Certificate of Education at Ordinary Level and Advanced Levels, including subject choices, grading, and education reforms, and a focus on HE qualifications and their comparabilities.
All sessions will include authentic documentation to support attendees to recognise important features, as well as qualification comparabilities and changes to education systems.
Objectives
The key objectives of the training are:
- To familiarise with commonly seen school qualifications from Kenya, Ethiopia and Zimbabwe
- To recognise features of documentation
- To see examples of authentic case studies
- To understand qualification comparabilities related to duration and dates of completion within the context of old and new education systems.
