Africa webinar series 1: Education in Kenya (Core session)

Overview

This is the first in a wider series focusing on school and higher education in Africa. This session will focus on the education system of Kenya.

This webinar will include the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) including the grading system, UK ENIC comparability judgements, and compulsory and elective subjects. Key qualifications at HE level will also be covered, as well as focusing on institutions.

The session will include authentic documentation to support attendees to recognise important features, as well as qualification comparabilities and changes to education systems.

Objectives

The key objectives of the training are:

  • To familiarise with commonly seen school and HE qualifications from Kenya
  • To recognise features of documentation
  • To see examples of authentic case studies
  • To understand qualification comparabilities related to duration and dates of completion within the context of old and new education systems.

Target Audience

Recommended for anyone whose work involves the consideration of students from Kenya.

Note: There will be practical exercises on the day. Please bring a pen and notebook or paper and a laptop (rather than a tablet or phone).
