Risk v Reward - Referee Development Weekend

8th - 9th July 2017

'Risk v Reward' is the theme for the 2017 Referee Development Weekend from The Referees' Association. Join us for a host of training sessions and development workshops, where we will be looking at a range of key topics aimed at improving your refereeing toolkit. There are many highlights, including interactive indoor workshops, the Referee Awards Dinner with entertainment, a fun-filled team based quiz and a number of practical outdoor sessions. With a great range of high profile guest speakers, recognition awards and much more, there is something for everyone. 2017 sees the Development Weekend continue to grow - so we look forward to seeing you at the event. Please note, that if you are under the age of 18 at the time of the event, you must have parental consent to attend any element of the Development Weekend. If you are under 18, you will be sent a parental consent form which must be completed before the event date. If you are attending with a group from an LRA/CRA/CFA or any other body, please ensure that the group organiser has a copy of the completed form. If you are a group organiser who has completed bookings for anyone under 18, you must ensure that parental consent forms are returned to the organisation. If the completed form is not received before the event, the booking will be cancelled.

Indoor Development Day (9.30am - 5.00pm)

'Risk v Reward' is the theme for this year's event, with the difficult task that we sometimes have in finding a balance within our refereeing being the main focus. With some of the best tutors on hand to deliver workshops with FIFA and Premier League match officials offering their insight and knowledge, you will hopefully leave with some great ideas and wisdom to take into your games. Key topics include the use of advantage, match control and off field considerations. Registration is from 9.30am with the event beginning at 10.30am.

The RA Team Quiz (5.15pm - 6.15pm)
@ Jury's Inn, Hinckley Island
After it's debut in 2016, our fun-filled team quiz returns. Teams of up to 6 will compete with a host of interactive rounds on a range of football topics, not just refereeing. Can your team win the title of Quiz Champions? Attendance is free and partners are welcome. This light hearted event aims to bring together attendees and has no dress code. There will be a prize for best team name so make sure you pick your team wisely!

The Referees' Association Awards Dinner (7.15pm - 10.30pm)
@ Jury's Inn, Hinckley Island
An evening celebrating the achievements of our match officials and workforce, with awards for on field appointments, development projects and best practice. Also on the bill is a high quality guest speaker, who will be able to give first-hand insight around the theme of 'Risk v Reward'. With added entertainment for 2017 and dinner, come together with your fellow officials to celebrate the season. The dress code is lounge suit and similar. Please be seated by 7.30pm.

Outdoor Practical Training Sessions (10.30am - 2.30pm)
@ Leicester Road Football Club
Practical sessions, delivered by the top referees and tutors in the country, designed to assist you when thinking about the risks and rewards that we face as match officials. With tailored delivery aimed at enhancing your refereeing skill set there will be 3 sessions on key topics being delivered throughout the event. Whether you want to learn from some of the best on the field or watch and take ideas for your own delivery, this is a fantastic opportunity delivered by the RA-FA Youth Council.
