Who is this course for?

This qualification is designed for those who wish to become involved in delivering multi-skills as an independent coach, and wish to take responsibility for the ongoing development of participants at a variety of ages in this area. Individuals operating within Physical Education and School Sport across the curriculum may wish to undertake this qualification. This is a qualification for individuals without any coaching experience and do not meet the pre-requisites for the 1st4sport Level 2 Award in Multi-Skills Development in Sport.

Course Outcome

This qualification is designed to prepare learners for deployment as independent coaches of multi-skills development in sport and physical activity, and will introduce learners to the principles of coaching fundamental movement skills and sport specific skills via the planning, delivery and review of a series of linked and progressive coaching sessions. A Level 2 Multi-Skills coach will be able to apply this knowledge to sport-specific coaching sessions or plan, deliver and review sessions purely linked to the development of fundamental movement skills (such as agility, balance and coordination) or sport-specific skills (such as jumping, throwing and catching).

Pre-Requisites

Learners must be at least 17 years of age and be able to effectively communicate in English. There are no further pre-requisites to attend this course.

Learning Programme

This qualification is delivered in two sections, the first is via online learning. Before attending day 1 of the face to face learning, you will need to complete and pass 11 online modules through our online learning platform, Coaching with Balls. Each module will take up to an hour to complete and involves a range of resources to aid with your learning such as videos, website links, PDF documents etc.

You will be provided with your results and feedback once you have completed all the modules. All the instructions of how to access and complete the online learning will be within your confirmation email once you have completed your booking.

The second part is attending the 3 days on course as stated above. You will need to attend all 3 days of the course to complete the remaining learning programme to gain the full qualification. If either part of the qualification is not fully completed you will not be awarded this qualification.

Assessment

Learners are required to plan, deliver and evaluate a series of multi-skills coaching sessions (minimum of six) in a real environment. Learners are then required to deliver aspects of a session on-course in a simulated environment to demonstrate competence. The observed delivery must last a minimum of 40 minutes.
