The course is aimed at baseball and softball coaches looking to enhance their practice planning and delivery. It will provide coaches with a well rounded view of what constitutes an great practice, including the use of multiple coaches as well as a set of new drills to take back to your next session.

Who is it suitable for?

  • Coaches who wish to plan and deliver fun and engaging practices
  • Coaches who want to learn new creative drills to implement in their club, team or league.
  • Parents who have never played baseball or softball and want an introduction to skills and drills appropriate for teaching players of all abilities.
  • Club coaches who wish to learn how to operate as part of a coaching staff
  • Coaches who believe practice is one of the best parts about baseball and softball

What are the pre-requisites?

  • Learners must be a minimum of 16 years old
  • Inexperienced coaches may wish to take 'The Activator Award' or 'Drills for Beginner Coaches- CPD Clinic‘ before attending

 Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Explain the basic mechanics of the pitching delivery
  • Teach a fourseam fastball, twoseam fastball and change up
  • Identify and correct common mistakes in the pitching delivery from the stretch position
  • Instruct a simplified version of GB Baseball's long toss programme to develop arm strength
  • Support players with basic pre and post throwing arm care to reduce the risk of injury
