Introduction

The course is aimed at new baseball and softball coaches. It will provide coaches with a set of drills to improve fundamental baseball and softball skills including throwing & catching, fielding ground balls and fly balls, and hitting.


Who is it suitable for?

  • People who are new to coaching baseball or softball.
  • Coaches looking for a sound understanding of basic fundamentals and new drills to reinforce key points.
  • Coaches who want to learn new creative drills to implement in their club, team or league.
  • Parents who have never played baseball or softball and want an introduction to skills and drills appropriate for teaching players of all abilities.
  • Club coaches who wish to reinforce ‘The GB Way’ and remain current on the why and how fundamentals are taught.


What are the pre-requisites?

  • Learners must be a minimum of 16 years old
  • Be passionate and inquisitive about learning new drills for playing catch, infield, outfield, hitting and pitching
  • Very inexperienced coaches may wish to take 'The Activator Award‘ to ensure rules and game play knowledge is sound

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the course, learners will be able to:

  • Understand what makes a drill great and be able to deliver engaging, safe drills.
  • Be able to coach throwing and catching skills using a variety of drills.
  • Be able to coach drills to develop ground ball fielding skills
  • Be able to coach drills to develop fly ball fielding skills
  • Be able to coach drills to develop hitting skills.
