Overview
The impact of largely devolved responsibility for the education in the UK system means that students from England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland present different contexts and have taken various pathways through education.
This session will look at some of the key similarities and differences between education provision and systems within the UK, focusing on secondary and higher education including accreditation. Key areas to be covered include the new GCSE grading system; AS and A-levels and the approach to specialisation; Scottish National Qualifications including Highers and Advanced Highers; the Welsh Baccalaureate; 1st, 2nd, and 3rd cycle HE qualifications, and the overarching synergy between the various UK frameworks.
Within the session there will be case studies and authentic documentation will be reviewed in order to identify key features and tackle some of the typical challenges when reviewing applications from the UK.
This will be a highly interactive session and will last 3 hours.
