Education in Saudi Arabia and Iran

Overview

This session provides an overview of secondary education in Saudi Arabia and Iran. The webinar will focus on the General Secondary Education Certificate (شهادة الثانوية العامة) for Saudi Arabia. For Iran, the webinar will focus on the High School Diploma (گواهينامه پايان تحصيلات), with analysis on the three main streams; the Theoretical Stream (دوره متوسطه), the Technical and Vocational Stream (فنی و حرفه ای), and the Work and Knowledge Stream (کار و دانش). It will also focus on the Iranian Pre-University Certificate (پیش دانشگاهی ).

Educational document examples and case studies are used to illustrate features of the education system and the issues that arise when evaluating qualifications from these countries.

Target Audience

This course is recommended for university and college staff involved with entry to undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The course will also be useful to people from professional bodies, nationality & immigration solicitors, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies, careers  guidance  and refugee and asylum seekers advisers.

Objectives

The key objectives of the training are to:

  • Be able to recognise the principal secondary education qualifications in Saudi Arabia and Iran
  • Practise identifying key features of these qualifications on authentic documents.
