An introduction to international student admissions

Overview

A newly designed training day for those who are at the start of their career in international admissions.

Experts in international education, credential evaluation, immigration compliance, and English language proficiency will share their thoughts and expertise to ensure that delegates understand the important elements of best practice in international student admissions and how these can be applied.

This training day provides a concentrated and thorough introduction to the education system and qualifications  of key countries and some of the challenges associated with typical qualifications.

In addition, delegates will understand how to develop a systematic approach to the evaluation of overseas qualifications, identifying the most able students and making an offer.

Delegates will also learn about the international / cross-border qualifications which can be used for entry on to undergraduate programmes.

Delegates will also receive best practice tips in how to meet the Home Office’s Tier 4 compliance requirements.

Note: There will be practical exercises on the day. Please bring pen and notebook or paper and a laptop (rather than a tablet or phone).

The objectives of this session are to:

  • Understand the important elements of best practice in international student admissions and how these can be applied 
  • Understand the challenges associated with key qualifications from the selected key countries 
  • Understand English language proficiency levels for admissions and how to use test scores in selection.
