This online event has been designed to give those dealing with international qualifications an in-depth understanding of how they compare to UK qualifications, and national and regional frameworks internationally.
Overview
The session will help delegates understand the principles of evaluating qualifications, the shape and form of secondary education across the globe, understand different higher education accreditation systems across the globe and why this is important and understand why a degree from one country might not be recognised in another jurisdiction. In addition, evaluation methodologies will be discussed, different education systems will be explored, qualification frameworks and their development and significance will be considered.
Target audience
This course is recommended for university and college staff involved with entry to undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and professional credential evaluators, in the UK or internationally. The course will also be useful to people from professional bodies, nationality and immigration solicitors, recruiters, work permit and visa agencies, and careers/guidance/refugee advisers.
Objectives
The key objectives of the training are to:
Understand how to apply credential evaluation and assessment theory to reach a final decision regarding qualification comparability
Understand the different models of secondary education across the globe and their different traits
Understand how the status of an institution may affect the result of a comparison
Understand qualification frameworks and their significance specifically with regard to undergraduate awards
