Distance and blended learning: understanding and navigating barriers to international recognition

Overview

With the COVID-19 pandemic continuing, distance and blended learning has demonstrated two key benefits: a way of allowing home students to continue their education and a means of providing universities with continued reach and expansion into international student markets.

However, whilst many countries may accept distance learning as a temporary means of delivery, qualifications obtained through distance learning are not universally recognised. This session will provide an introduction to some of the key recognition issues surrounding distance learning, spotlighting opportunities and challenges in a number of countries across the globe and providing practical advice and guidance to universities on navigating these.

Target Audience

This is recommended for staff in universities and colleges involved in the recruitment and admission of international students. This session is targeted both at members who already use IGC and to those who would be interested in subscribing to it.
